The public's expectations of privacy are evolving in response to the rapid uptick in personal data breaches. More states are adopting privacy regulations in order to protect the personally identifiable information of their residents. For example, the California Consumer Privacy Act which goes into effect on January 1, 2020, expands on California data privacy laws to effectively produce the most comprehensive data use legislation in the United States, granting residents increased control over their data. Numerous copycat bills have emerged across other states, with minor nuances in each. During this session, panelists will discuss steps to implement a responsible regulatory privacy program and address the challenges of the evolving regulatory landscape.
